Trivia

  • The 1996 Stepney blueprint was drawn on 28 April 1995.
  • The prototype 1996 Stepney features Thomas' face, flat magnets, and a shorter dome.
  • Stepney never had the redesigned plastic funnel until his 2003 reintroduction, thus making him the only engine to have the original plastic funnel up to 2001.
  • Stepney never had a cab ledge despite being introduced in 1996 while other engines still had them.
  • The 1997 Stepney has been included in many Home Video Bonus Packs released after 2003.
  • The 1997 Stepney was sold separately in certain countries such as New Zealand in 2006. This was also the case with the 2001 Rusty and the 1997 S.C. Ruffey.
  • Stepney is not featured in the 2000 pamphlet, however, he is featured in the yearbook.
  • The prototype 2003 Stepney features a 1996 vehicle chassis, an unpainted mouth, a taller dome, and a less defined nameplate and number.
  • The 2003 Stepney was never released individually in Europe until 2010.
