2005 Character Card

D199 is a blue diesel with a bright yellow face. He believes that all important jobs should be left to diesels, and that steam engines are only good for their parts. Sir Topham Hatt sent him away for causing too much trouble.

  • The prototype 1996 D199 features flat magnets, sticker side decals and a thinner, flatter face.
  • D199, along with Culdee, are the first characters introduced in the Wooden Railway line that only appeared in The Railway Series as well as the first characters introduced with painted eyes.
  • D199 is not featured in the 2000 pamphlet, but he is featured in the 2000 yearbook.
  • The 2005 D199 is repainted from The Diesel, although the roof is slightly higher on D199.
  • The prototype 2013 D199 features a more vibrantly colored face and reversed side details.
  • D199 always had painted eyes even when most other characters at the time still did not, most likely because he has an embedded face.
